First Stop was excited to receive a grant this month via the Master Gardeners of Alabama, known as the Jane R. Parks Memorial Grant Award. This award of $400 is intended to provide seeds and soil amendments for the upcoming growing season. With the help of Sue Khoury, Project Chair of Master Gardeners of Alabama, First Stop foresees 2020 to be our most profitable growing season yet.
With the support of the Jane R. Parks Grant, First Stop will be able to provide its clients and the community with an abundance of starter plants, fruits, and vegetables. One of First Stop’s own expert gardeners, Tim Talley, has overseen the gardening program for the past two years and is very eager to use the grant to enhance the 2020 gardening production.
First Stop’s starter plants and produce can be found locally at the Green Street Farmers’ Market and the Bailey Cove Farmers’ Market come June 2020.
